Detailed description
If a person can no longer manage his or her own affairs due to illness or old age, the guardianship court will appoint a guardian.
If you would like to provide legal support to other people on a voluntary basis, you must be nominated by the guardianship authority and appointed by the guardianship court.
You can then act on behalf of the person you are caring for in an area of responsibility determined by the guardianship court. If necessary, you can also legally represent the person you are caring for.
As a volunteer carer, you usually take on the care of a person in need from your family or circle of friends. You do not receive any remuneration for this. However, you will be paid a flat-rate allowance for expenses.
