If you are involved in probate proceedings or have a legitimate interest, you can request access to the probate file.


If you are eligible, you can inspect the file at the probate court.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • You are involved in the inheritance proceedings or have a legitimate interest.
    • You are involved in inheritance proceedings, for example as an heir, executor, or legatee.
    • You must prove your legitimate interest.

Documents required

If you are involved in the probate proceedings:

  • Proof of identity, such as identity card or passport
  • Death certificate (if available)

If you have a legitimate interest:

  • Evidence that proves your legitimate interest, such as a will, proof of kinship (certificate of civil status), debt instrument or similar
  • Death certificate (if available)
  • Power of attorney

Procedure

  • You apply for access to an estate file with the necessary documents in writing to the responsible authority.
    • You provide the file number.
    • If you do not have a file number, please provide the full name of the deceased person, their date of birth and death, and their last permanent place of residence.
    • You provide your contact information (phone number or email address) to schedule an appointment and for further inquiries.
  • The responsible authority will review your application and, if necessary, request additional documents or information from you.
  • You will receive feedback and a suggested appointment time.
  • If necessary, please contact the responsible office to adjust the appointment.
  • You will appear at your appointment with your valid proof of identity.
  • You can inspect the estate file at the responsible office.

Processing time

If all required documents are available, it usually takes 2-3 working days until the appointment for file inspection.
