Education package - reimbursement of costs for school supplies for pupils (housing benefit / child allowance for recipients)

If you receive housing benefit or child allowance under the Federal Child Benefit Act, you can receive this benefit as part of the education package.
Schoolchildren receive a total subsidy of 195 euros per year for learning materials, 130 euros at the beginning of the school year (usually on August 1st) and 65 euros at the beginning of the second school semester (usually on February 1st).
In addition to the school bag and sports equipment, personal school supplies also include writing, arithmetic and drawing materials, such as fountain pens, crayons, compasses, protractors and erasers.

Expenses for consumables that have to be purchased regularly, such as notebooks, pencils and ink, must be covered by housing benefit/child benefit.

 

Information

Prerequisites

  • Schoolchildren under the age of 25 who or whose parents are receiving housing benefit or child allowance under the Federal Child Benefit Act
  • Attending a general or vocational school, including pre-school
  • no training allowance received

Documents required

  • Copy of the notification of approval or the certificate (confirmation of benefits) for housing benefit or child allowance
  • Application (see link application school supplies - education package)
  • School certificate (is issued by the school)

The certificate (confirmation of benefits) is a short notice that only contains the data required for applying for benefits (name, approval period, date of birth, address, legal basis for benefit receipt).

Please note

For children younger than 7 years or older than 15 years , a school certificate must be enclosed.
The receipts for the purchase of school materials must be kept and presented upon request.
