Immerse Yourself in Art
Port des Lumières is an immersive art space that presents digital exhibitions dedicated to important figures from art history, such as Gustav Klimt and Friedensreich Hundertwasser as well as contemporary art, such as the exhibition ‘Journey’ by Turkish production studio Nohlab. This digital art form immerses visitors in the artists' works and stimulates all the senses to creates a unique experience that goes beyond simply viewing a painting.
Maritime Design at the Harbour Front
Hamburg's first permanent exhibition centre for immersive art is located in the HafenCity's neighbourhood Überseequartier, right next to Westfield shopping centre. Just a short walk from the harbour and the River Elbe, the quarter is emblematic of Hamburg's maritime identity. The exhibition centre boasts a wave-shaped façade and a reconstruction of a ship's bow in the main hall reflecting the maritime themes that run strong through the whole of the Überseequartier. And the red brick walls blend elegantly into the surrounding architecture, which is distinctive within all of northern Germany.
Entertainment for All Ages
You needn’t be an art aficionado to enjoy Port des Lumières; the immersive exhibitions are also designed for people who have never been to a museum before and aim to provide everyone with easy access to art. For example, there is the new Kids' Atelier, an interactive studio where children can discover magical worlds and let their creativity run free. In addition, visitors can look forward to an Infinity Mirror Room, a selfie room and a gift shop offering high-quality souvenirs, postcards and books to remember their immersive art experience in Hamburg.
